About Diana Homer

With over 40 years of experience in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC), I am thrilled to offer mentorship and coaching to early childhood educators, empowering them to enhance their programs, practices, and overall wellbeing.

At iconnect U C me?, my consultancy supports educators working with children under 6 years of age, providing onsite and online training designed to reignite their passion for teaching.

I advocate for families, as their child’s first teachers, helping them understand the importance of early childhood education, play based inclusion and, pedagogy and the vital role in fostering a child’s social, emotional confidence, wellbeing, and resilience—critical factors in shaping their potential later in life.

I have extensive experience in inclusivity, cultural linguistic support and advocating for our First Nations peoples, across early childhood, primary education and vocational training. My career spans across varies roles such as a Trainer and Assessor with the National Quality Standards Authority, a rural and remote teacher and trainer in First Nations communities, a project officer for QCOSS for the Early Childhood Program and Practice and a statewide Principal Advisor for Wellbeing and Inclusion for early childhood centers across Queensland..

I am a mother of two daughters who loves the outdoors and animals. I am deeply passionate about nurturing the hearts and minds of children in our care, walking alongside their families to ensure they feel seen, heard, supported, and confident.

I acknowledge the need for every child to experience love and kindness, positive support strategies, rich play-based curriculum and well grounded authentic connections with their educators and those who support their development and care.

Isn't it Ironic?

  • You started working with children because they excited your passion, energy and creativity, but now, you can hardly get yourself out of bed to want to go to work.

  • Leading a team of early childhood educators always felt invigorating, bouncing great ideas around and trying new innovative ideas as a team, but now you struggle to get educators to fill shifts, let alone enjoy their day with the children.

  • As educators you put a hundred percent into your work caring for others but now who looks out for you and advocates to care for you?

  • You thought nurturing young children through play and fun would be a wonderful way to spend your day. Yet families are so stressed their little ones are heightened on arrival leaving you, the educator, exhausted and drained

  • Trying to support families with their child’s behaviour and sadly now you are too scared to help them as their behaviour is out of control.

In 90 dynamic days you’ll shift from…

  • Being emotionally exhausted after a day on the floor with children, to leaving work knowing you are making a difference to your families and children and that makes you smile.

  • Feeling like your management team constantly wants an unrealistic amount more from you to be heard, and having the confidence to hold your ground.

  • Having the sinking feeling of having to go to work, afraid of being hurt again, to knowing you have a toolbox of strategies that will directly support the children in your group

  • Overwhelmed by morning tea time, as the same children are climbing the furniture and trashing the room, to understand the needs of those heightened, and fully connecting with the children and a calm flowing program.

  • Dreading the aggressive and agitated arrival of parents to collect the children to feel calm, in control and confident to support the families and farewell them happily.

  • Wrestling with the idea of going to the lunch room with colleagues I don’t even know, to being excited to collect great new ideas and collaboratively brainstorming future outcomes

  • Feeling isolated and overwhelmed to confidently hold boundaries and navigate opportunities for positive relationship building.
